Barbecuing in the forest - so delicious

A few tips

The sun is shining - it's summer. What could be more fun than a family outing or a get-together with dear friends somewhere in the countryside?

Pack something to barbecue and off you go. In today's article, we provide you with a few useful tips for barbecuing outdoors.

Making a fire
The first thing you need to do is gather firewood, such as branches, brushwood and bark. Or you can take the firewood you need directly from home.

  • A quick fire
If you are hungry or the temperature is dropping, you can quickly remedy the situation with a star fire . To do this, arrange a few branches so that the tips touch and overhang slightly. If a branch is almost burnt down, a new one can be placed on top.
  • Fire on damp ground
Lay several damp branches close together to form a raft-like square. Now place another layer of branches on top, staggered. Now you have a great base for a star fire (see quick fire).
  • Lighting aid
If you can't get it started - potato potato chips are a good fire starter. The greasier, the more effective. Discuss this with your children!

Delicacies from the fire
Before you start preparing your delicious meal, you will need a long, thin branch. This is then sharpened at the front end with a sack knife. For the snake bread, carefully peel off the branch all the way round.

  • Snake bread
Prepare a bread dough at home. Mix 500g flour, 1 packet of baking powder, 1 teaspoon of salt and 5dl non-alcoholic beer to make a smooth dough. In the forest, each hungry person can then form a fist-sized piece into a 2cm thick sausage and wrap it around a peeled branch. If possible, brush the dough with a little milk before baking. Bake the snake bread over a strong ember for 20 minutes. Turn the stick slowly and steadily.
  • Cervelat creations
Be creative when cutting the Cervelat. Funny figures and shapes make eating even more fun. The best-known shape is probably the Cervelat with legs. Cut the ends crosswise, stick them on a stick and grill them. You can turn your Cervelat into a real work of art with different cuts.

Be careful! Ticks love wooded areas. Take a few precautions and you can start enjoying the delicious food in the forest.
