Barefoot path in Thurgau

No matter whether you are big or small, young or old - taking off your shoes and socks and walking barefoot on different surfaces stimulates your senses and allows you to experience nature in a variety of ways.

Wuppenau is a small municipality in the canton of Thurgau. It is about 10 minutes by car from Wil SG and about 15 minutes by car from Weinfelden TG. In 2008, a group of energetic and creative nature lovers formed a group and created the barefoot trail on the Nollen together. The approximately 1.5 kilometer long barefoot trail is an experience for all ages and is peppered with informative forest boards and detailed maps. For the most part, the path leads over forest or meadow soil, but also over gravel.

There are various adventure stations to discover:

- When wading in the mud, you can feel the spaces between your toes.

- You can feel different materials under your feet on the feel tracks and the blind walk.

- Challenge and improve your balance on the various balance routes. - Refresh your feet and calves in the stream.

- Enjoy the variety of insects at the waterhole near the biotope and take the opportunity to wash your feet before slipping back into your socks.

The barefoot trail is embedded in a wonderful panoramic circular hiking trail. You can choose between the four-kilometre or the seven-kilometre version. The former is indicated with an approximate walking time of one hour and you can follow the signposts with the blue foot. For the longer route, allow around two hours and follow the signposts with the red feet. Both options are recommended, as in fine weather you can enjoy a magnificent view over Lake Constance, the Säntis and the Glarus mountains.

With the exception of the adventure sections of the barefoot trail, all sections of the Panorama Trail are suitable for baby carriages and are well maintained throughout the summer and accessible free of charge at all times. If you arrive by car, you can park at the cheese dairy. From there, it is about a kilometer uphill on gravel until you reach the "Brügglipfad" sign and then find the barefoot path on the left in the forest. If you are traveling by public transport, take the 721 bus from Wil SG to Wuppenau and get off at the "Welfensberg", "Dorf" or "Hosenruck" stop.
