Delicious things made from dried fruit

Dried fruit is typically found in muesli mixes, cakes or bread rolls. However, there are many more ways to use dried fruit in the kitchen. Let us inspire you.

Bacon dried fruit (for 24 pieces)
Preheat your oven to 200 degrees.
Wrap 8 dried apricots, 8 pitted dates, 4 dried figs and 4 prunes without stones with half a slice of bacon each. Place them on a baking tray lined with baking paper. Bake for 15 - 20 minutes until the bacon is nice and crispy.

  • You can also prepare them a day in advance and keep them covered in the fridge.

Dried fruit riz-casimir (serves 4)
Fry 500g chicken strips in a little oil , season with salt and pepper , place in a bowl and set aside.
Add 15g butter to the frying pan and toast 1.5 tbsp flour and 1.5 tbsp curry powder . Deglaze with 2dl stock and 2 dl milk and bring the sauce to the boil. Add 150 dried fruits such as figs, pears, apricots, prunes, raisins and dates to the sauce. Simmer for 10 minutes. Add the chicken meat and season with salt and pepper to taste.

  • Whether you leave the dried fruit whole or cut it into small pieces is entirely up to you.
  • The dish also works well with pork, veal or fish.
  • It goes well with rice or couscous.

Dried fruit pralines (for 20 pieces)
Chop or puree 100g prunes, 100g dried pears and 100g dried apricots. Add the grated zest of a lemon, a pinch of ground cloves, a little cinnamon, 80g ground hazelnuts and 80g ground almonds and knead everything into a smooth mixture. Leave to rest for 30 minutes. Shape into small balls or long pralines.

  • Roll the pralines in fine grated coconut.
  • Or cover them with chocolate icing.
  • If only adults are eating, you can give the mixture an extra kick by perfuming it with 1 tbsp of rum or Cointreau.
