Between the edge of the meadow and the forest floor, little treasures are waiting to be discovered by you. Flower presses and nature pictures invite you to capture the colors of nature together with your family and create lasting memories.
A walk takes on a new meaning when you look for flowers, leaves or fine grasses with open eyes. Collecting slows you down, sharpens your eye for details and creates space for conversations that are often neglected in everyday life. Perhaps a bright meadow flower will end up in your basket or a maple leaf with a special shape. It is important to treat nature with care, leaving enough plants standing and not picking protected species.
At home, the quiet, almost meditative part of the project begins. The collected finds are carefully placed between pieces of paper and placed in the flower press. Patience pays off, because after a few days the colors are gently dried and ready for the next step. This waiting time offers a wonderful opportunity to build up anticipation and collect ideas together.
As soon as the flowers and leaves are pressed, the creative variety unfolds. Collages, pictures or a personalized greeting card are created on sturdy paper that will bring joy. They can create shapes, try out patterns or deliberately design spontaneously. Children experience that there is no right or wrong, only expression and imagination. Adults often enjoy the decelerated work and the feeling of creating something real with their hands. Nature pictures also make excellent gifts or decorations for the home. A framed picture reminds you of a summer's day, while a self-designed card accompanies loving words.
How to press flowers step by step:
Gather fresh flowers, leaves or grasses that are as dry as possible.
Place them individually and flat between pieces of absorbent paper, such as household paper or blotting paper.
Place everything in a flower press or between two heavy books and weigh them down.
Change the paper after one or two days so that the plants dry well. After about a week, the flowers are ready to be shaped.
First lay the pressed parts loosely on paper until you like the composition.
Then carefully secure everything with glue.
Once dry, you can give your nature picture as a gift, hang it up or use it as a personal greetings card.
Have fun collecting and pressing!
