Hearty Christmas decorations

A beautiful ambience doesn't always have to be expensive.

A beautifully festive table setting makes every meal cozy and lovely decorations make every room cozy. Be creative! There are numerous ways in which you can create such an ambience yourself.

For example, make a cute snowman with your loved ones.

For the head: Cut out two circles with a radius of 2.5 cm from cardboard . Cut out an inner circle with a radius of 1.5 cm. This creates two cardboard rings.

Cut 4 - 8 threads of the same length from white wool (approx. 2m per thread). Place the two cardboard rings on top of each other and wrap the threads around the edge. Wrap until you are evenly around the entire ring. Cut more wool threads. Continue until the hole in the middle is closed. If you can no longer get the threads through the hole, you can push them through with a pin or pull them through with a hook.

Then cut the threads at the edge with scissors until you reach the cardboard. Cut all the threads by running the scissors all the way around between the two cardboard discs. Take a double wool thread and place it between the two cardboard discs. Knot them tightly. Cut the cardboard and pull it out of the ponpon.

For the body: Cut out two circles with a radius of 3 cm from the cardboard. Also cut out an inner circle with a radius of 1.5 cm. Continue as with the head.

Knot the two ponpons together with the protruding wool threads. Cut these protruding threads back to the length of the remaining threads. Place the snowman on the larger of the two ponpons and position it so that it is stable. You may need to trim the wool threads on the underside a little.

For the hat: Cut a circle with a radius of 3 cm out of black or dark brown felt . Make a straight cut to the center. Apply some craft glue to one edge of the cut. Place the other edge over it to form a hat. Also cut out 5-6 small circles for the eyes and buttons from this felt (another option is to punch out these small circles with a paper punch). Now glue the hat to the snowman's head.

For the nose: Cut out a quarter circle with a radius of 2 cm from orange felt. Roll the quarter circle into a nose (hold the tip and roll one cut edge towards the other). Glue the nose, eyes and buttons to the snowman.

If you or your loved ones feel like it, you could add a colorful scarf to the snowman. To do this, crochet a string from yarn or wool and tie it around the snowman's neck.

Decorative fir branch

  • Take a walk through the forest with your children and look for beautiful treasures. These can be pine cones, tree bark, stones, small branches or leaves.
  • Get a fir branch (at the nursery or in the garden section of the supermarket).
  • Now sort the collected treasures with your loved ones and stick them to the branch (preferably with hot glue).
  • You can also place the branch on a plate and simply arrange the decorative materials next to it. Your fir branch will look particularly festive if you place a candle next to it.

Moos
