High sensitivity - when impressions go deeper

Around 15 to 20 percent of the population have the trait of high sensitivity - both children and adults. A loving and understanding approach can lead to a better quality of life for everyone involved.

In every family, there are people who feel more intensely, are overstimulated more quickly or have particularly fine antennae for moods. This is often not a weakness, but a special predisposition: High sensitivity.

Perception on reception
Highly sensitive people perceive stimuli more strongly and in a more differentiated way - be it noise, light, smells or interpersonal tensions. They also experience their own inner life more intensely. For example, a highly sensitive child finds it harder to recover from a teacher's stern look or cries more quickly during a touching movie. At the same time, many highly sensitive people have a pronounced sense of empathy, creativity and strong intuition.

Not a label, but an indication
High sensitivity is neither a diagnosis nor a disorder. It is a personality trait - similar to introversion or extraversion. Nevertheless, an assessment by a specialist can be helpful in order to better understand your own child or to deal with your own sensitivity more consciously as a parent.

Everyday life with consideration and structure
A regulated daily routine, small islands of retreat and an understanding environment create security. Highly sensitive children often benefit when activities are measured out and transitions are well prepared. Adults are also well advised to plan breaks, reduce sources of irritation and behave in a caring rather than critical manner towards their own sensitivity.

Recognize and strengthen strengths
Highly sensitive people have special abilities - whether artistic, social or intuitive. Encouraging these talents not only strengthens their self-confidence, but also their resilience in everyday life. Discussions within the family about feelings, needs and boundaries promote mutual understanding and cohesion.

An attentive eye is enough
Those who recognize and acknowledge high sensitivity and support it with respect enable deep relationships, creative development and emotional strength. It is worth taking a close look - not with concern, but with appreciation.

We wish you many peaceful and mindful hours!
