If these are good reasons for you to exercise outdoors, there are a few tips you can follow:

  • Dress proportionately. Functional underwear that transports moisture to the outside and still keeps your body warm is ideal.
  • Apply the onion principle, put on several layers that you can take off depending on how warm you feel.
  • Only choose garments that allow moisture to escape from the inside to the outside. Otherwise heat and moisture will build up.
  • Adapt your sport to the weather conditions. Jogging or cycling on icy surfaces is dangerous. Even the best footwear or tire tread won't help.
  • Breathe in cold air through your nose. This can protect the bronchial tubes from excessively cold air and prevent chesty coughs and respiratory infections. If the temperature drops below minus 10 degrees, you can also protect your airways with a scarf or cloth over your face.
  • Fingers, toes, ears and the tip of your nose are particularly at risk of frostbite. The first signs can be paleness, numbness and numbness. If the symptoms do not subside despite wearing a hat or gloves, stop exercising immediately and go into the warmth.
  • If you feel that you are struggling to breathe, are freezing too much or your muscles are pulling more than usual, stop.
  • You should not do any more outdoor sports above minus 20 degrees.
