Autosuggestion hilft: «Ich kann es, ich will es, ich tu es!»

Brain jogging

The head also needs training: this keeps the brain fresh and fit.

Jogging, walking - all important "in" things of our time. They keep our bodies fit. But the brain is also an organ that you can train like any other body organ. Especially if you regularly demand top performance from your brain, it needs a top service.

Everything essential that we need for the day takes place in our brain: Motivation, emotions, creativity, intelligence, information processing, action planning and action control. Plenty of exercise and sufficient sleep are certainly suitable ways of keeping the brain healthy. But it also needs to be able to "travel" - to take its mind off things , so to speak.

Our brain feels particularly at ease in an inspiring environment. So look for stimulating conversation partners. Think about who that could be.

Treat yourself to a little luxury more often. The brain occasionally wants something special. So spend more time doing things that you have rarely done before. For example, play spontaneously with your children or your neighbor's dog. Even an archaeology museum can be a special top experience for your brain.

You're right to ask: "Where am I going to find the time for this?" But there are always small reserves, despite a seemingly exhausted personal time budget. For example, there is often a good quarter of an hour hidden away on the way to work . Leave the car at home or park your vehicle further away from the workplace than before. Walk the rest of the way to the office. You will see that you gain important time for "brain care" and creative thinking.

Another way to engage more with your own brain is to use positive self-talk to influence yourself. If you listen carefully to yourself, you will notice that you too are unconsciously talking to yourself silently when you think, plan, decide and act. Often these are not sophisticated formulations, but rather brief self-invitations that run through your head in telegram style. These are often defensive reactions. For example: "I hate this work" or "There's no point in me trying, I can't do it anyway!". Such negative self-talk is stressful. By constantly repeating these thoughts, you will only make yourself even more listless and unfocused when approaching unpleasant tasks. The negative thoughts become ingrained in you. You should give yourself three short positive self-commands as a counter-reaction to such bad thoughts:

  • "I can do it!"
  • "I want it!"
  • "I will do it!"

You will see: Even the most unpleasant work will be so much easier.
