Wind chimes look particularly attractive when they are colorful and not damaged by the weather. You can cover both points with the help of iron-on beads.
Making them requires a little dexterity when putting them together. The rest is also easy for children to do.
You will need:
A round pegboard, iron-on beads in the desired colors, baking release paper, iron, a sewing needle and thicker thread or yarn.
This is how you proceed:
- Place a small circle of one color of iron-on beads in the middle of the pegboard.
- Leave one or two rows of spacing and place another circle of iron-on beads in a different color on the same plate.
- Continue in this way until you have at least five circles in different colors.
- Place the baking paper over the beads and fuse the individual circles together by running the medium-hot iron over the paper for eight to ten seconds.
- Allow the circles to cool on the pegboard and then carefully lift them off one by one.
- Insert the thread or yarn into the needle and form a triple knot.
- Insert the needle between two beads of the largest circle in the center of the circle.
- Thread on an iron-on bead and then take the second largest circle. Pierce the center of this circle again between two beads and repeat this step with the other circles.
- When you are in the middle of the smallest circle, pierce through again on the opposite side of the circle. Thread on another iron-on bead and continue to pierce through the circles so that you end up piercing out again on the opposite side.
- Knot the end above the last circle so that the wind chime can still be moved.
- Shorten the thread to the desired length and hang the wind chime anywhere you like.
Have fun watching the wind spinning later.
