Make your own crunchy muesli

To give as a gift or enjoy yourself

A delicious breakfast is the perfect way to start the day. The muesli that is so popular in this country is easy to make yourself. Ideal as a gift or for your own power kick in the morning.

Granola with dried fruit (makes approx. 900g)

The first step is to make a syrup. To do this, you need a deciliter of water, 100g of sugar, two tablespoons of honey and a pinch of salt and boil this together. Stir occasionally until the sugar has dissolved. Allow the liquid to simmer until it has a syrupy consistency.

Then add 0.5 deciliters of rapeseed oil, 400 grams of coarse oats or cereal flakes, 80 grams of coconut flakes, 80 grams of almond slivers or flakes and 1.5 teaspoons of cinnamon . Mix everything well and spread on a baking tray lined with baking paper. A tray with high sides is ideal.

Leave the mixture to dry in the middle of an oven preheated to 175 degrees (top and bottom heat) for around 45 minutes until the granola is crispy and completely dry. Remove the tray every 10 minutes and turn the granola. Incidentally, 160 degrees is sufficient for an oven with hot air.

As soon as the granola is crispy, switch off the oven and remove the tray. Add 100 grams of dried cranberries, 50 grams of grapes and 50 grams of dried, finely chopped apricots . Mix everything well. Then leave the mixture to cool completely in a half-opened oven. The shelf life depends on the expiration dates of the ingredients. Fill the granola mixture into pretty bags or jars.

Tip: Mix the muesli with milk, quark or natural yogurt before eating. Found on swissmilk.ch We wish you a delicious start to the day.
