CARE Childhood Study
In the ChildhoodAlleRgy, Nutrition and Environment(CARE) study, newborn children up to the age of three are observed. The aim of the observational study is to take a major step forward so that nutritional recommendations for healthy immune system development can be made in the future. - A food diary will be kept
- The environmental conditions are recorded

What happens in the event of an allergy?
In the case of an allergy or allergic disease, the body reacts with a hypersensitivity reaction to substances that are harmless in themselves. These are almost always proteins, for example from pollen, animals, house dust mites, food or medication. The list of so-called allergens can be extended indefinitely and they are present almost everywhere in our environment. If those affected come into contact with these allergens, a misdirected, inappropriate inflammatory or defense reaction occurs in the body. The body reacts with symptoms such as swollen nasal mucous membranes and eyelids, eczema, nausea and even severe asthma reactions, which require the immediate use of medication.
Allergy careers
In most cases, allergies begin in infancy and childhood and follow a characteristic pattern. Atopic dermatitis is followed by bronchial asthma and later by hay fever. The succession of these three atopic diseases during childhood is referred to as an allergy career. It describes the problem that children with an allergic disposition "grow out" of one allergy as they get older, but are then followed by another form of allergy. All three or only some of these diseases can occur.
