Create your own feel-good cream with ylang-ylang

What could be nicer than pampering your skin with a delicately scented cream? And if you make it yourself, the pleasure is twice as great.

The ylang-ylang fragrance is particularly suitable for a feel-good cream. The ylang-ylang tree originally comes from Indonesia and the Philippines. There, ylang-ylang oil is extracted from the flowers of the plant. While it is primarily valued as a fragrance in our part of the world, it is also used as a remedy in Asia. With its calming, antispasmodic and soothing effect, it helps with stress, sleep disorders, menstrual cramps and skin care.

Here's how you can easily make your own ylang-ylang scented cream.

Ingredients

150g beeswax in cosmetic quality

150ml organic coconut oil

2-3 tbsp almond oil

15-20 drops of ylang-ylang oil (do not use undiluted oil on the skin)

  1. Melt the beeswax and coconut oil together in a water bath. Make sure that you use a heat-resistant bowl and that the water does not start to boil.
  2. Mix the ingredients well until they are completely combined.
  3. Pour the mixture into a clean tin. If you want to be creative, you can also use various small silicone molds or a muffin tin. Leave the cream to cool in the fridge until it is firm.
  4. And the cream is ready for your feel-good program. Take some cream in the palm of your hand and spread it gently over your body. Use the cream in chunk form by spreading it over your warm skin. It is particularly beneficial for dry skin.

Tip for the summer: add a few drops of lemon oil to the cream to repel mosquitoes.

Make sure that you only use essential oils that are suitable for use on your skin. Only use the oils in diluted form. Before use, check whether you are allergic to certain ingredients by applying the cream to the inside of your elbow, for example, 24 hours before use.

Have fun melting and applying the cream!
