Colorful birds fit into every season. Even little artists can join in with this craft idea. The birds can be used as decorations around the house, as parcel or key rings and as bookmarks.
You will need these materials to make a bird:
Iron-on beads, pegboard, baking release paper, iron, two colorful and fine feathers, two googly eyes, hot glue, some orange felt or painted cardboard, yarn and two wooden balls.
This is how you make the bird:
- Using one color of iron-on beads, lay out a square with five beads on a side.
- Lift each corner bead out again to create a "circle".
- Create a second "circle" underneath the "circle", which sticks out one bead further on each side than the smaller "circle".
- Place the baking paper over the beads and fuse the beads together by running the medium-hot iron over the paper for eight to ten seconds.
- Allow the round plate to cool and then lift it off the pegboard.
- Glue the two googly eyes in the middle of the smaller "circle" using the hot glue.
- Cut a triangle out of the felt or painted cardboard as a beak and glue it under the eyes.
- Attach the two fine feathers to the ironed rear side with a little hot glue so that they look like wings when viewed from the front.
- Cut two 10-centimeter pieces of yarn, thread a bead onto each piece and knot one end so that the bead cannot slip out. Glue the other end of the yarn as legs to the bottom row of the bead you have ironed together.
Depending on how you want to use the bird, you can now stand it up, let the legs hang down over a stand or hang it on another thread so that the legs dangle freely. The bird also makes a fun parcel tag or can be used as a thicker bookmark.
Have fun making a colorful flock of birds.
