Spice up chairs with masking tape - creative design for the whole family

Decorate your chairs with colorful masking tape! Ideal for a creative afternoon project with children or as a seasonal home decor idea.

Are you looking for a simple and inexpensive way to breathe new life into old furniture? Then we have a creative crafting tip for you and your family. The colorful adhesive tapes made from rice paper - also known as "washi tape" - are easy to use and can be removed without leaving any residue. They are available in countless colors and patterns and are thin, flexible and adhere to many surfaces. Perfect for decorating furniture, glasses, picture frames or even chairs.

Materials:
A wooden or plastic chair
Various masking tapes to suit your taste
Scissors or a cutter
A ruler for precise edges
Optional: clear varnish for sealing (for intensive use)

Procedure:

  • Clean the chair thoroughly - preferably with a slightly damp cloth. The surface should be dry and dust-free.
  • Think about a pattern together with your children: Would you like stripes, checks, dots or a fantasy pattern? Perhaps even a different color for each chair leg?
  • Start at one edge and stick the tape on carefully. Smooth it out with your fingers so that no air bubbles form. Cut off any protruding edges cleanly with scissors.
  • If the chair is used often, you can fix the pattern with a colorless varnish. This will keep the design beautiful and washable for longer.

This craft idea is ideal for rainy days, birthday parties or simply as a joint creative project at the weekend. Children can design their own chair - this not only strengthens their creativity, but also their sense of co-determination in everyday life.

Our tip:
Decorate a small children's seating area or make each kitchen chair unique. This will create a colorful eye-catcher in your home or on the balcony - without much effort or craftsmanship.

Have fun crafting!
